Hello to all...Alan here from Miami,Florida...New to this forum.I've looked at some of the pic's here and you folks have some very nice fish tanks setup. I just setup a 55 gal. Have a Penguin bioWheel 350 in it. I was also thinking of adding a canister filter to help with the filtering. I just don't know which one to get.I know I must provide plenty of hiding places. What kind of heater should I add and at what temperature?I look forward to getting toknow you guys and gals individually and I look forward to seeing more beautiful pics as well as posting my pics as I go along.Have a good day.Alan

Hey Alan, welcome to ACF! wave.gif

I think it's a great idea to add additional filtration.
What are you planning on keeping in there?

Hey MiamiCichlid, welcome to ACF!! wave.gif

For heaters, I like Visitherm, and for a 55 gallon you'd be looking in the 150-200 Watt range.

Set the temperature around 78 Deg.

Fluval makes a good canister filter, but there are also many others out there that are decent too.

Thanks go out to everyone that answered for the help. We plan on keeping a community tank with different species. As I get a little more familiar with them, I plan on starting to try and breed them.Mainly the Malawi cichlids as they are my favorites....
