After much research and looking at pics on here...my roommate and I came up with a way to make a 'cabinet' look alike...that is to fit around my wrought iron stand! He went to the cabinet makers nearby and went through his junk pile and found appropriate pieces for free and cut/sanded and pieced them together! All it is costing me is the hinges, handles and a 'donation' for his time! This is what we have so far...we still have to do support brackets and such inside, as well as stain and finish it!

For sure I will. Doug has just spent two nights doing the work so far...now when we're doing securing it with shelves and L brackets tonight...I'll take a pic before I stain it! A custom canopy will be done after to match!
Well I lied on the 'free' part...the person transporting it got a flat tire and had to pay $18 to fix it...so I'm giving him $30 gift certificate to cover the cost of his gas and the tire!

Excellent idea Steph! Good work. I suppose this could also be used for a cinder block stand cover too?

Thanks...I just went out to buy the hardware...totally bringing back memories of refinishing all my furniture and doing my minibar! Wow...holy canoli...brutal. So crafty me is buying silver...and antique pewtering it with my kit I used to do my light fixtures! I spent $15 a year ago on this kit to save buying 7 light fixtures...and still have some left...so I'll show you what I'm doing to save $10! EL CHEAPO HERE!

very nice "cowgirl" i love the way it came together. and "cheap" is a good thing when your hobby costs as much as ours does. thats why we go out and brave rampaging wildlife and the elements to collect rocks. we do what we have to to make this hobby enjoyful to ourselves and those around us, and if we can do it cheaper thats so mich better for us in the long run. that way if we spend less on the accrutements of the hobby, we can spend more on the fish we want...see it all works out in the end.

Wow...glad this site's back...a full 10 days or more, thought I was going to go crazy without everyone's help.
Here's my updated pic...You'll notice I'm missing the front ledge at top of cabinet...and the hood actually is awaiting a couple pieces to conceal corners as we didn't mitre it right off the bat...but otherwise it's completed till we can find the pieces we want in the toss away bin. Hope you all like. (I also have the newly sponged background fabric just sort of hanging there, but it will be affixed properly later)

I'm working on the next project...hood for my 110 I just got, as I can't get the black plastic edging for the top...so no glass lids unfortunately.
