African Cichlids
Hello All!

I'm new here and really looking to network with people in my local area. I hope theres someone(s) from Eastern North Carolina on here. I tend to like a local network of individuals that live close so we can buy/sell/trade and share ideas. I'm also here for just pure cyber networking for African Cichlids.

I have two African Cichlid tanks 125G, 75G. Also I have a 29G with Amazon Discus raised in pure rain water. (Yes this is the difficult, back breaking tank.)

My African tanks have a huge variety of cichlids in them. My fish stock really started out as was ever fish caught mine and my husbands eye, but now we are trying to get a colony of Acei's going. Prolblem with this task you ask? Of course there was. We set up a new tank as we have done many times from having to move and waited for it to cycle as well as used the chems we needed. Went and got 30 fry from a local cichlid friend and added them to the tank along with some Ruby red Crystal fry we have been raising and in a matter of 3 days they where all dead. WHY you ask? two weeks after this happened my city water company sends out a notice to fish owners saying we need additional chems than before, they have changed aquifers and added additonal chems that are harmful to fish. Wonderful they send out the notice two weeks after they make the change with a back dated "have your system in place by date". Thank you city of _______.
Well there you have it I'm looking for more fry to start a colony with in a 75G.

Hey African Cichlids, welcome to ACF!! wave.gif

Bummer about the fish loss. Have heard many people talk about similar issues with their city water supply.
