Ok so i've had Cichlids before but never really got to involved in them. I joined the army sold the tank and forgot how great it was to have. Almost ten years later I finally got a 55 gallon tank set up put 2 Jack Dempseys and a Green Terror in there. They got big pretty quick like 5 or 6 inches. but they were allways hiding out in the rocks I would never see them unless it was time to eat. angry.gif So they were sold on craigslist. I went to the LFS and bought 4 african cichlids.1 kenyi, 1 red zebra, 1 bumble bee and another one that im still not sure of? maby i will put a picture up in the what am i section. th_38326493.gif I put a bunch of river rocks in the tank moved them around....moved them around again....and again then decided i needed more fish. Went back to the LFS bought 4 electric yellows. I moved the rocks around several more times haha... and decided i needed more fish. I didn't want more of the same cichlids and no one around my area specialized in the cichlids so I went to the internet found an awesome place in cleveland called something fishy and thats when i realized I was hooked. I bought a Rusty, a Greberi, 5 juvenile intermedius, and my favorite the Burundi Frontosa! Oh yeah then i moved the rocks around some more... blush.gif So I will not bore you with my blabbing anymore just wanted to say hello and give a semi quick introduction. wave.gif

Hi and welcome to the forum. icon_thumbsup.gif

Odd about the jack dempseys and green terror, not fish that usually hide ime.

The little frontosa might not be the best fit for that tank. The other fish can be pretty nippy and overly hyper for it and the front should eventually outgrow that tank.

Welcome! Sounds like another tank is in your near future.

Your story is pretty typical. Most of us started out the same way, especially with africans. There's just too many super cool fish to stop at just one small group, or one tank, or ultimately (for some of us) just one fish room.

Good luck with your new addiction.

Yeah I kinda figured the Front will out grow the 55. I've got a 125 in the basement but its not set up yet. I am planning this project and want to do it right. I want to do a sand bottom and im thinking about the foam filter system but not too sure how it works or how to go about it. Lots of reading i guess blush.gif . Maby some undergravel jets and whatnot. I am also thinking about doing a styrofoam background. Should be lots of fun whacky.gif

Welcome to the forum, you will find some of the nicest people in the hobby here

That 125 will quickly be needed for your front. They are great fish, and do best in groups, so soon you will find yourself buying a few more and watching them school in that big ol' tank. Thats what happened to us :)

Glad ya found us.
My JD's were always hiding as well, and I sold them for the same reason.
