Gday

just a quick question

would putting peppermint plecos be ok with the following

Calvus x2 1 of each sex

Phenos x4 1 male
Elec yellow x2 1 of each sex
Elec blue x2 1 of each sex
Moori x2 1 of each sex
hongi x4 1 male
red jewel 1 of each breeding well every 3 weeks

There has not been any noticeable aggro from them except the jewels when fry are around but the others have learnt to stay at the other end of the tank

I have a 300lt tank and 300lt per min top filtration pump

I'd be careful, I never put expensive plecos in my tank. I started out with 3 regular plecos 4-5 years ago and now i have just the biggest of the 3 left.

From my experience if the pleco is significantly smaller than the cichlids then you may have a problem. If you do put one in make sure he is fully fully acclimated to your water so there isn't any additional stress. Put him in and just watch how all your fish interact with him. Try not to just toss him in especially if they are hungry. Sometimes if i'm worried about adding a smaller fish i'll put a pinch of food in the opposite corner of where I want to add the fish then just take the fish in the palm of my hand and glide him all the way into the rocks.

Plecos are nice but homestly they don't really clean any of the tank. If you want some nice scavengers that will do awesome at any size with your fish add some synodontis catfish. Multipunctatus are my favorite of these. They are found in rift lakes of africa and do very well in hard water and with very aggressive fish.

Hey kcam, welcome to ACF!! wave.gif

Adding plecos in with cichlids can be hit or miss.

bk1300 gave good advice and agree to make sure and acclimate the pleco to the tank water.

Also provide it with plenty of hiding places.

I have a bristlenose pleco in a 55g with all of my mbuna. She seemed to be doing fine for about 2 months until recently. As my cichlids have been getting bigger I notice part of her top fin was a bit torn. I think she is starting to be picked on a little bit. I would be careful about what you put in there like said above. I am even debating taking her out of the tank.
