hello all

i am from Riverview New Brunswick and very new to the world of cichlids , purchased a 55 gal tank complete setup with 14 breeding Lake Malawi Cichlids , one female was holding , and one small one about 1/2 " long but they ate him in transfer sad.gif oh well i was told the adults may do that .any how my intentions was to set up the tank and sell the fish as i knew nothing about them , well they are keepers ,wow they are beautiful and have character (if that is possible) red tops, yellow lab, lab fullerboni are the breeds i have all 3-4" long . now where should i go to find out the proper ph ,gh/kh levels and whatever else i should know?
i was able to retain about 50% of the original water with the transfer and filters weke kept in the water as well .
i have live plants with a sand/choral bade and my son and i made a lot of caves for the fish , i will try to send a pic of my setup later.
thanks in advance for your help

From Wikipedia:
"The water in lake Malawi is typically alkaline with a pH of 7.7 – 8.6, a carbonate hardness of 107 – 142 mg L-1 and a conductivity of 210 – 285 µS cm-1. The lake water is generally warm, having a surface temperature that ranges from 24 – 29 °C (75 – 84 °F) and a deep level temperature of 22 °C (71.6 °F)."
Sorry for such a short answer, I will try to get links up for more info later on.

If I were you, I'd hit up the Malawi section here, Larry is quite the guy! and can probably help you out with references and what-not that you are wanting.
