This weekend I spent moving my 70 out of my family room to have the floor redone and to make room for my 125. My first project was to rebuild a cabinet to withstand the weight of my 70. My only constraints were that it had to look the same after I was finished. Here's a few pics of the project.

Every thing has survived the move so far. I've kept my AC 500s going to keep the bio filters active for when i set up the 125. The poor fish are confused with filters on both the front and back of the tank.

Next project is to build a stand for the 125! My wife says it has to look like a piece of furniture. I was going to make an open design to accomodate fry tanks but she has other ideas. holymoly

Great job!!! Looks great!!! I really like how you put an angle cut on the end....looks sharp. The stand looks sturdy as well. Good luck with the 125 stand, and keep us posted on your progress thumbs up

Looks good skraeling thumbs up A little recycling of some kitchen cabinets ?

I'm also pretty familiar with the wife saying "it has to appear as though it's a peice of furniture".....my Mrs. also says it has to "match the decor of the house"... makes things a little more difficult since we live in a 150 year old victorian.

thumbs up

Thanks every one for the kind words. I don't know the origin of the cabinet but it was put together with 1x3 strapping and plywood we didn't use it for much except for hiding a printer and the kids would sit on it while watching the other play games.
Running the tubing and electric cords through the wall was out of necessity otherwise the tank wouldn't have fit.
