Hi All,

I just added 3 WC Erts. this past week to a 90 gallon tang. community tank. One is pretty good size - I'd say almost 4 inches long - the other two are smaller about 2 and 1/2 inches each. The big one and one of the smaller ones paired off immediatley - they are pretty much inseperable, the other small one is all by himself. Just wondering if there might be trouble down the road with the solitary fellow.

They seem pretty finicky when it comes to eating - they aren't aggressive like the other fish when it comes time to eat - so last night I picked up some spirulina flake and put it in right before I shut the tank lights off - hoping that they could scavenge some during the night when the other fish are less active. Seemed like most it was gone by morning and I did observe the small solitary Ert. eat some off the sand. I still worry if they are getting enough to eat.

I love the little fellas and want to make sure I am doing them justice - anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!

BTW - they are housed with the following:

6 Cyp. Leptosoma "Blue Flash" (2 M 4 F)
4 Alt. Lamp. Comp "Gold Face" (They are still pretty small)
3 Aul. Rubesecans Peacocks (1M 2 F)

Some nori in a clip would be a good food for thm, then they can pick at it. I have never had etrmodus, but have kept all the other gobies and they are pickers and loved the nori.

Congratulations on the new gobies! Eretmodus are my favorite of the three.... and I think you're really going to enjoy them happy.gif

I would say give them a bit to settle in and they should accept almost anything pretty readily after a bit of acclimation. Mine feed quite well on NLS for example. As far as the trio getting along, in a 90g they have plenty of room and should be fine IF you have separate rock piles, and plenty of crevices to mitigate any territorial disputes. Once they spawn, the pair will surely be a force to be reckoned with.. so if your aquascaping is a bit on the light site, beefing it up a bit would be beneficial.

Let's see some pics of the new cuties laugh.gif

Thank you Ladies for the advice!

They are settling down and I did see them nibbling on some spirulina flakes. They are also coming out a lot more - just I was getting too nervous and impatient!

Heather - I have a decent amount of "holey" rock in the tank - it goes across the entire tank in a wave pattern.
I promise to post some pictures ASAP - just want the tank to settle down a bit - got the "new tank" haze going on, but it is clearing up pretty good. Been checking the water quality every other day - seems to be doing good, haven't seen an ammonia spike yet.

It looks like you have Eretmodus Kigoma from the pictures. I have had a colony of nine for about a year including one pair that has consistently spawned. Last week I sat and watched as three other pairs did some of the spawning dance.

May I suggest that you really do something nice for your fish and your self? Try feeding newly hatched baby brine shrimp to your tank. I keep mine in with a spawning colony of Tropheus Bemba and you would not believe the color difference between yours and mine.

The orange spots turn much more consistent and much deeper in color; imagine black and orange stripes. The little blue spots that you see now get almost purple. The edging around the dorsal and tail becomes fire engine red with a blue stripe under it. Gobies, when picking at the rocks also consume little crustaceans.

I was blown away by the difference after feeding bbs for a month or so. I feed spirulina flake to the tank as well.

Try it and see for yourself. I think this is the prettiest goby in the lake, but we haven't really seen Congo ones yet have we?
