I noticed that at midnight tonight PDT there were 8 guests in the site. 3 in the forums, but the other 5 were listed as being in the Shoutbox, where visitors were listed as:

Yahoo.com, Yahoo.com, Yahoo.com, Yahoo.com, Yahoo.com

Since there were no new shouts and only members can shout, it looked odd to me and as a suspicious (paranoid?) software industry guy I wanted to report it in case it represented some board vulnerability being exploited. Sorry if I'm wasting your time!

What you are referring to are search engine spider bots. They crawl the site and collect information for search engines. These are good bots.
