i just brought another power filter. it's a marineland penguin 350 with duel bio wheels. now i have 2 of these 350's. it's only been working 4 1 full day. now the orignal marinland bio wheels have slowed down. should i be consern? i was told this should help with the cloudyness. is this true? also my 5 babys aer doing fine. i was feeding them 3times a day. should i slow down the feeding?

N-E CICHLIDS
It's a bacteria bloom. Algae blooms are green and Bacteria blooms are whitish color or Cloudy color. You are overfeeding them. I feed my guys every other day. Don't feed them for at least 3 days. Turn off the lights also. The uneaten food, fish waste and lights are a Perfect scenario for Bacteria. Remember fish can go a week without food. They are Scavengers. No filter is going to cure the bacteria. Hope this helps

Did you change the filter media on your established filter right before you added the new one?

How long has the tank been set up? Was your cycle complete prior to adding the new filtration?

Any changes in substrate?

Do you have access to Biospira, or Cycle?
