I've been meaning to ask this and I forgot to post it a while ago so I'll ask today. is there a reason why we have an option for coming in here as a Guest or Anonymous ?

And let me say this...if your a legitimate visitor, then welcome to our little slice of the electronic ether. We welcome you and would enjoy your input and membership. We cant grow without your being a part of us here at ACF.

Having said that...just let me add. To your question PF...

Thats a safety net for those annoying "Lurkers"...that way they can read and enjoy all of our stuff...without expending any energy to make this forum their own. They can just crawl around in the shadows and not be recognized for who and what they are. To my way of thinking, its "chicken POOP" to sign on as anonymus or guest when your already a member. If ya have something to hide then dont waste our time, if you dont have anything to contribute...then dont watse our time...if your just going to crawl around in our stuff and not be a part of whats going on here, DONT WASTE OUR TIME! Thats just my opinion though...what does everyone else think?

The only purpose I could see to the anonymous thingy would be for the mods to be able to come on and just read, rather than be expected to respond every time???

Does the guest option allow you to see more than just browsing without signing in? I've never tried either...

And Admins. Remember that they have a lot going on and have moments when they might need to try a new software fix without getting a barage of PMs (from guys like me! LOL).

Kim, to my knowledge, we do not have the option to sign in as a guest.

All this is showing is that there are 10 people who are viewing the board at that time. 7 are members and logged in as members.....the other 3 are just people viewing the board. They might be members but have not logged in to their account here. There are benefits to logging in, such as the off-topic section can only be viewed by members who are logged in. As well as the full size pictures in the gallery. Guests can view the thumbnails but not the full sized pics. For the anonymous users.....many reasons one might log in as anonymous. Maybe they do not have time to reply to their own threads at that time or to respond to pm's at that time and do not want to seem as though they are ignoring anyone. I myself have logged in as anonymous many times. Sometimes I log in just long enough to fix something or change something and I'm out the door.

Like Mark, I too log in anonymously at times. Sometimes I just go in and view what is going on but dont sign in as normal because I dont have the time to respond to numerous PM's. Many times when I am at work and busy, I will sign in anonymously just to check if things are going well, and if I am not needed, I pop back out and go back to work

SoundS like an interesting thread Pseudo, and I agree with the above statements of wanting to come in as a "guest". But heres what confuses me.
I have noticed and I have asked before to some members and some Mods. as to why:
1. a guest such as Yahoo can view "User PC's", and post too?
2. a guest such as Gigablast can post in a thread.
3. a guest can post anything?

I have seen these time and time over and always wondered.

And if I may,,,how can a banned mamber come in even when this members identification has been changed on the forum.
