I know I am not a moderator, but I have some suggestions. First, what we need is a tank section. You post a picture of your tank, describe it's specs, and post 2 pictures of your fish. People are attracted to tanks, and with a tank section this site will grow more. I say we also have a photo contest every 2 weeks. I love to see pictures of people's fish. And we need to find some site sponsers. I say that we find some established Cichlid stores that can sponser us. If anyone knows of a local breeder that would be willing to sponser us talk to them.

Hey fishboy,,,you dont have to be a Mod. or a Admin. to make any kind of suggestions. Your suggestions sound legit. but you must also remember that the site has'nt been open for to long now,,I think 4.5 weeks??

And you have to remember that we are in the closing months of summer,,people are taking advantage of it so thats why it may seem slower than normal. Sure other forums are booming,but they have also been aroound longer.

You will see that in the winter season,,this forum will have more members and more insight as to what can happen. I am sure that you'll see more pics and sponsors when it's to cold to hang outside!!! We currently have 44 members and over 2.089 post,,,thats pretty damn good for 4.5 weeks work.You may see that dbl in the winter??? uhhuh

As for photo contests,,,,I'm game for that as well,,but we're going to wait a while on that one until we have more members. Or until our forum can handle it.

Yeah, I know we will get more members. Les described it all to me in a pm. Before we can do anything major, like a profile section, we need money to set it up. I think we also need a donations section, like Planetcatfish. And I am member of a ton of sites. There are ones that have been around as long as Cichlid-forum and they don't even have1/6 as many members. The key is advertising. Give our site name to other fish sites and our membership will go way up. That's what Cichlid-forum did.

Fish Boy, I like your suggestions. As AP said we are approaching our 1 month anniversary of being online. There will be improvements coming dont worry.

As for sponsors, that may or may not happen. If we add sponsors, we inevitably lose some freedom to be objective. For example if we have a cichlid distributer sponsor our site, in fairness to that sponsor wouldnt want to have members posting a thread about what a great experience they had with another distributer. See what I mean? undecided

A tank section and a photo contest sound legit. If enough people want this kind of thing, I am all for it. We are trying to go with the "majority rules" as much as possible as the forum is really nothing without you guys and your participation.

Mod or not, feel free to post suggestions, this form is the members- not slely the staff's uhhuh

I thought I would revisit this thread to make a point that I havent made already.

Recently Mongo and his friend Ldean have come aboard, and really brought the posting and humor up another notch. I am actually pleased we are not as large as a forum such as CF. We have been getting some great new members. In very large forums, sometimes some of the close knit discussions are lost and the occasional foul mannered member joins and causes a disturbance.

There are some advantages to being small and still growing winkk

thank you "les". and theres no humor intended in that, its heartfelt. i have been made to feel like i belong here. i also feel like you, size is not of great importance. if you have quality...then quanity isnt that great. all of the people on this site so far, are intelligent and thoughtful. the amount of knowledge on this site is astounding, its just amazing. and the site its self is very well run. i have been to other forums and left after a bit, they were just to big. they couldnt keep up with the amount of questions that were being asked. and the "experts" were rude and insensitive. when i ask a question, i want information not condemnation. and i feel like i get that here. as for the humor, thats just my nature. if "AP" hadnt been as good at coming back at me, then i probably wouldnt have been as active as i've been. i understand that there are other people on here, but "AP" seems to be as "bent" as i am. its cool to find friends from acroos the country and the continant (the carzys) it is amazing to see and hear that your failures and successes are the same as everyone else.
