Hello Everyone,
I am a reletivley new Tropheus Keeper. I have 10 Duboisi, started with 18 and got my first lesson in bloat a few days after getting them.I have Metro on hand now ,needless to say.
I got them in toronto on halloween. They where all about 1 "Well,it wasnt very long before i was dreaming of more.So a little over a month ago,I got 30 Molori.I lost 3 after the shipping. They are both in there own 75G tanks.I witnesed my first duboisi spawn a little over a week ago.she held for 9 days, but now seems to be missing her eggs :) .
I dont really know the lineage of either of these types. The duboisi came from scarbourough Big als,and they are white band. The molori ordered through LFS,unsure of supplier.Well of course,This isnt enough,And i am thinking of my next colony :) . And now I desire to know what exactley I have, and Better resale value on fry in the future , I am looking into only F0 colonies from now on.
I have recently self diagnosed myself as a tropheus addict ,and I am not sure if there is any hope :)
I heard this is a good place to recieve support for my problem
I also keep Mbuna and a SA tank as well.
Thanx
Mark

I know your problem very well since I am trying to drop that ediction for the last 30 years. No success.
One question: Why would you ONLY buy wild Tropheus? Generation one or even two from a good breeder look as nice as any wild but the advantage you have by buying 1st or 2nd Gen. is that these fish are already acclimatized.
Post some pictures of your fish for us to see.

Welcome !!!!
I also agree with Buntbarsch. I can't justify buying wild caught, when you can get f1 for 1/2 the price, and they look and act identical. and also, F1's are tank raised and will be much more hardy in a tank environment.
Any way, When you get a chance, post some pic's. We love 'em !!!!!
